Heritage Meal

Join the community for a special Heritage Meal and social gathering at the Melkhoutfontein Community Hall on 3 October. This unique event brings people together to enjoy a traditional meal, share stories, and discover more about the rich cultural and natural heritage of the area.

The Women of Melkhoutfontein will lovingly prepare a traditional meal featuring homemade soup, fish, roosterkoek with sour fig jam, and a delicious dessert. Older residents will also share fascinating stories and anecdotes about traditional food, customs, the use of Fynbos, and life in Melkhoutfontein. You may even discover the story behind a “kawie”!

Come and enjoy good food, community, and local stories while learning about the traditions and knowledge passed down through generations. Proceeds will be used towards the conservation of our natural plant heritage and to support a local crèche.
