Born on the border of Zambia and Zaire where my father did research as a scientist. My mother gave up her career in Opera to start a life together there. Art was my mother’s salvation. I grew up between brushes, paint samples of clay and glaze. So, of course, I did not have Mathematics, but Art as a subject at school in Orange Girls’ School in Bloemfontein. After school I was one of the first seven art students from “Kovsies” where I studied BA Fine Arts with Art and English as majors.
After that it was my absolute passion to share the wonderful world of art with learners in the Free State, Transvaal and here on site. Of course, it also captured the imagination of adults and so I took children and adults overseas to introduce them first hand to the Old Masters, Architecture and Sculpture … These days, I live off my own art and clothing design, which is a form of applied art. Because of the receptivity I have to everything that has Aesthetic value, I use various themes and genres to live my life in. I use multimedia, especially acrylic, oil and watercolor.
To cut a long story short, I am a half-baked artist who seizes every opportunity to learn more.
