Riverina”, the oldest holiday cottage in Stilbaai, was erected on the western bank of the Goukou River by Johannes Guillaume Steyn in the early 1880’s. After his death, the property was bought by Dirk Versfeld in 1896. His meticulous hoisting of the Union Jack every morning, gave rise to the naming of the suburb as ‘Little England’ by the locals. His grandson, David James, carefully restored the dwelling to its former glory during 1995. It was further refurbished in 2024 and is now available to rent as holiday accommodation.
