The Stilbaai Writers’ Circle was established in 1994 when a few women who practiced writing as a hobby came together with the sole purpose of enjoying their passion collectively and learning from one another. Today, the members form a heterogeneous group in terms of age and gender, and writing is done in both Afrikaans and English. The group meets on the last Thursday of every month in the reading room at the Stilbaai library. Members complete writing assignments which are read, edited, and critiqued during meetings. The Stilbaai Writers’ Circle has already produced several publications, including the successful anthology Waarheen die wind waai (Where the Wind Blows).
