Hessequa Heritage Trail Run & Festival

We are happy to announce that the 8th annual Heritage Trail Run is taking place this year and the date is set for Saturday, 27 September 2025.
There will be a 2 distances: 5km and 16km.
The start of the 16km Heritage Trail Run will be in Jongensfontein at the tidal pool and the route will end at the Stilbaai Tourism Bureau at the Palinggat Homestead while the 5km Mini Trail will start at the Skulpiesbaai parking area along the same route.

16Km ( R200)

The Hessequa are and Stilbaai speciffically has many interesting heritage and historical sites and there is no better way than to celebrate Heritage Day than to participate in the Heritage Trail-run where you will pass a few very interesting places. This 16km Trail run starts in Jongensfontein -there are (one way) shuttles form Stilbaai to Jongensfontein- and takes runners along the beautiful coast line and past various historical places – like ancient fish traps at Skulpiesbaai, the shell middens (close by) ; the Wafra tok (the fishing boat with a sad story – look out for it at the NSRI building at the harbour; various monuments as well as some of the oldest beach houses – to Stilbaai where it finishes  at the Stilbaai Tourism Bureau situated in the Palinggat Homestead that is also part of Stilbaai’s History.

• Or Enter and do registration on Friday (26 Sept 2025) from 15:00 – 17:00 at the Tourism Bureau.
• Or Enter and do registration on Saturday morning  (27 Sept 2025) from 6:30 to 8:00 at the Bertie Barnard Primary School
• PLEASE NOTE : PARTICIPANTS HAVE TO REGISTER FOR THE RACE BEFORE THE START AND GET A RACE NUMBER. NO ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED AT THE STARTING POINTS !
• Entry fee : R200
• You will receive a race number that you have to wear on Saturday (27 Sept 2025)
• Shuttle to leave from Bertie Barnard Primary School for Jongensfontein at 8:00  sharp.
• Start time of the race : 8:30 am
• Start venue : Jongensfontein at the tidal pool.
• Distance : 16 kilometres
• Finish venue : Stilbaai Tourism Bureau (Langenhoven Street)
• Shuttle service : (One Time Trip )Shuttle will leave for Jongensfontein from the parking area / registration area at Bertie Barnard Primary School at 8:00. If you miss the shuttle, you will have to make your own transport arrangements. (There will be no return shuttles from Jongensfontein back to Stilbaai )
• Participants are requested to park their vehicles at Bertie Barnard Primary School and NOT at the Stilbaai Tourism as parking space there is extremely limited. The parking area at Bertie Barnard Primary School is safe and walking distance to the finish where the festivities will be.
• There will be ablution facilities at the school.
• There is NO seeding for this event as this is a social event, Participants will mass-start per distance. Race numbers will be allocated in sequence of entries received at registration.
• Cut-off-time : There will be NO cutt-off time as we would like all starters to be able to complete the full distance.
• There will be a water table on the route.
• There will be sweepers behind the last runner and there will be medical assistance.
• All finishers will receive a unique medal.

5 Km Mini-Trail (R100)

There will also be a shorter Mini Trail of 5km that will start at the Skulpiesbaai parking area and will also finish at the Stilbaai Tourism Bureau. This route will be just as scenic and fun at the end, will be worth it.

• Start Time : 9:00
• Start venue : At the parking area at the Skulpiesbaai beach (at the fish traps)
• Distance : 5 kilometres
• Finish Venue : Stilbaai Tourism Bureau ( Langenhoven Street)
• Shuttle service : (One Time Trip) Shuttle will leave for Skulpiesbaai from the parking area/registration area at the Bertie Barnard Primary School at 8:30. If you miss the shuttle, you will have to make your own transport arrangements. (There will be no shuttles back from the starting point at Skulpiesbaai to the finish venue)
• There will not be a water table on the route. Participants have to take their own water.
• Medals for all finishers.
